  15. <p>     SENTENCED. BYRON DE LA BECKWITH, 73, white supremacist and former
  16. fertilizer salesman; to life imprisonment for the 1963 murder
  17. of Mississippi civil rights leader Medgar Evers. Beckwith had
  18. been tried twice in 1964, but all-white juries deadlocked both
  19. times. He was reindicted in 1990 after new witnesses came forward,
  20. and last week a jury of eight blacks and four whites found him
  21. guilty.
